  1. After reading the definitions of place names and other terms used by Pérez in "Not one more refugee death," discuss the imagery used by the poet to explore the theme of refugee death in the Mexican-American borderland region.
  2. In "Not one more refugee death," Pérez writes, "Today, our vigil signs proclaimed / McAllen is not Murrieta. / . . . / We stand with refugee children." How does watching "Targeting El Paso"—for example, scenes about the detention of refugees in McAllen, Texas (27:40) and other locations—help to understand the experience of refugees, and refugee children in particular?
