For this project, you will interview two licensed clinical mental health counselors. Both counselors must be trained in mental health counseling and have a license as a clinical mental health counselor (title may vary) in your state. Individuals trained in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, and/or psychiatry programs are not appropriate for this assignment. Do not interview family members or friends. You may conduct the interview in person (preferred) or by phone; email correspondence should not be used.
Please use this Interview Guide as the basis for your interview. You should include your own questions in addition to the ones provided in the guide.
Write a 5-6 page summary of the interviews. Include your reaction to the interview responses and a discussion of the issues that raised salience about the counseling profession, training, role of the counselor in the community, and current issues within the field. Include a reflection on how the responses differ from your assumptions about the role and work of a clinical mental health counselor.
This paper should be written narratively; you may use first person. Your paper should be free of grammatical or spelling errors and should reflect the quality of writing appropriate for professionals completing a graduate degree. If you choose to include references, you must adhere to APA style (e.g., citations and a reference section). Use the APA Template, including a cover page with your name and the course information.
