Synthesis Essay

Students will write an essay incorporating 3-4 of the articles assigned in this module. The assignment is more than a review of or response to the articles; although, students will provide in their introductory paragraphs very brief summaries of the articles they choose to incorporate in their essays. In each of their body paragraphs, students will incorporate multiple sources, synthesizing their ideas into a coherent and meaningful paragraph. This 600-700 word essay should include a Work Cited page, making the total number of pages 3-4.

Choose one of the two writing prompts below: Keep in mind that your essay must address one of two prompts, but I will allow a considerable amount of freedom in how you choose to address the prompt. With that in mind, expect to brainstorm and to have some of your ideas thoughtfully critiqued. The goal of your brainstorming activities should be to narrow your focus to a specific assertion that you can support with your essay.
