This response paper must be a minimum of 1000 words (4 double spaced pages) and will be graded out of 100 points that will be weighted to 15% of your final grade. The grading rubric is as follows:
* Content and thoroughly answering all parts of the prompt: 0-50 points
* Grammar and punctuation: 0-25 points
* Focus and cohesion: 0-25 points
Drawing from the book edited by Knight & Martinez-Vergne, answer the following questions in your paper:
A. What are the authors’ points about the politics of race and racial identity in the Caribbean?
B. Describe one example from the book of a social movement in the Caribbean that aims to address inequities of race, social class, gender, and/or sexuality. What do you think are the successes of the movement? What are its challenges?
C. What comparisons can you draw between identity politics in the Caribbean around race, social class, gender, and/or sexuality and that which exists in the United States?
