09 Nov Discussion ECE 503
Now it is time for you to borrow from the many ideas and create your own home literacy program. You should feel free to use some of the many ideas we have read about and do not feel pressured to come up with something completely original. The idea is that you create a plan for implementing a program when you have your own classroom of preprimary children. The you can share your ideas with everyone and we can beg and borrow from youJ
Your home literacy program should include:
- A title (catchy but easy to remember)
- A brief description of how you would run your program (this could basically be how you would explain it to parents in a note home) and the role you, your students, and the parents would play in the program
- The materials your program would require (from you and/or the parents) and what resources you might use to gain access to these resources
Remember that there are many elements in literacy and not only reading so if you want to focus on writing, drawing, language, etc. then this is perfectly appropriate. The idea is that the program is sustainable (manageable) for you and for parents throughout the year.
