Your thematic unit should:

• be designed as a one-week long unit
• contain six lesson plans (including a culminating activity)
• contain activities that span various subject types (e.g., language arts, art, drama)
• contain at least one activity that incorporates visual arts
• contain at least one activity that incorporates music and/or movement
• contain at least one activity that incorporates creative play and/or drama
• Integrate language and literacy activities
• Include cultural character books as appropriate

Using the Thematic Unit Template, the student developed a thematic unit of instruction which clearly encompasses lesson plans as well as center activities and home-school connections.

Thematic Unit includes identification of 2-3 special needs types, with a clear description of how activities could be modified to meet those needs.

Includes a clear and comprehensive description of how children’s understanding and progress throughout the unit is assessed. 

Includes a list of theme-related resources, including ALL resources used in the activities as well as additional related resources.
