Imagine that you are invited by your local school district to address a meeting of teachers and administrators who have been called together in response to a number of incidents hat have been occurring recently in the school district. Some Muslim children are being taunted by other students and called, “terrorists” and Osama. There have been swastikas painted on walls outside the high school. A group of Christian students who take part in an after school Bible Study are trying to convince others that Muslims worship a pagan God, read the Quran which promotes violence and are intolerant of Jews and Christians. Because the Superintendent of the school district knows that you have taken a course in the Religions of Abraham, you are invited to speak to the teachers and administrators about the three religions of Abraham, giving an historical perspective, explaining the current situation, and offering some suggestions on how to deal with the problems they are encountering. Write a paper approximately 6 pages in length on what you would say in light of what you have learned this semester.

Originality and imagination
Thoughtfulness
Quality of writing (spelling, grammar, overall unity, good introduction and conclusion)
Proper citation of references
Familiarity with the religions of Abraham
Familiarity with themes discussed in class this semester, lectures, music, films, etc.. and mosque and synagogue visits
Familiarity with the current climate of prejudice, misinformation and misunderstanding
Familiarity with course readings: Qur’an, Bible, Feiler, Starr, and Stoessinger (“Fifty Years of War”)
