Critique Questions for “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”
1. Select 2 characters from the play and discuss their performance in the areas of acting and voice. Include discussions of their work in the areas of singing, Dance, and Acting.
The Rocky Picture Show is a 1975 musical science-fiction horror-comedy play that features several characters. Dr. Frank N. Furter is one of the amazing characters in the play. He plays a major role in setting the scary feeling in the play from the time he enters on stage. Even though he is a man, he acts a woman which brings about humor as well as suspense in the play. Dr. Frank Furter wears the courageous look when acting. He commands the show with his movements from one corner of the stage to another. The movements are part of his dancing which captures the attention of the audience. It is through these movements in acting that captures the attention of the people. The character acts so well and manages to bring all the attention of the audience to himself. Even though most attention is on him because of humor and looks, the character is able to engage other actors in the play to make it more interesting. The costumes that he wears in the play as well help in bringing up the character of an antagonist and causing all the troubles. The character has a commanding voice which also helps in capturing the attention of the audience. His vocals are also smooth and rhyme well with the musicals. He sings with deep voice which brings out his character as well.
The character is able to tune the voice different to show the mood of different scenes and he is able to tell the story through music. His eloquence ensures that the audience understands him well. Dr. Frank’s acting and voice is excellent in creating the mood of the play. Brad Majors is another character in the play. He starts off as a cool young man of great moral character. His acting is exemplary as he is able to show morality of the society from both sides as he transitions to what is considered as an immoral person. His voice is faint in the begging of the play but later grows. His voice brings out his persona and well identifies his character through the film. Brad does not sing much in the play.

3. This play represents the Rock Musical Theatre style. Did you enjoy this style of the Play? What interested you the most about this production?
I enjoyed the style of play. It is interesting how the production has been able to tell the story through the use of music. The story which contains humor and horror has been captured well by the rock musical and makes it easy to understand what the character is referring to in every part of the play. The costumes and the make-ups on the characters also represent the Rock Musical Theatre Style and which makes the play more interesting to watch.
