Before starting this assignment, review “Preparing Annotated Bibliographies,” in the Topic 2 Resources.
For the assignment, look at God’s passion for people throughout the Bible that creates the framework for missions today. Choose a total of 8-10 passages from the Old Testament and the Gospels that speak to key areas of missiology. These passages can be drawn from the following:
Resources from Topic 1 and Topic 2
Passages from their place in a larger narrative, such as the divine drama, proto-evangelion, Abrahamic covenant, and the Great Commission
Other missiological narratives
Passages not previously identified as being connected
In the “Missiological Passages: Old Testament and Gospels” document, you will critically explain or interpret the selected Old Testament and gospel passages to analyze the key areas of missiology, provide an annotated bibliography, and begin to build a framework for missions. In the document, you will include the following for each Scripture reference:
Passage.
Analysis of the key areas of missiology of Old Testament and the Gospels.
Annotated bibliography from Bible dictionaries and Bible commentaries. Include items such as: background or denominational bent of the author(s), conclusions made by the author(s), summary of the content or scope of the text, and research methodology of the dictionaries and commentaries.
Cohesive framework for understanding missions that is based on the analysis of the key areas of missiology in the Old Testament and the Gospels.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
