What is "open" adoption? Are you in favor of it?  Why or why not?  What is a state’s interest in favoring or disfavoring open adoptions (i.e., why does or should a state care about this matter)?  Also, choose and research the laws regarding adoption in a state that begins with the same letter as the initial for your first or last name, or in which you have special interest due to personal connections.  Does your chosen state recognize open adoption?  If so, how does it work?  If not, compare with Virginia’s position on open adoption and share similarities and differences.  Cite at least two (2) sources outside of the textbook, including at least one primary source of law for the state you researched.
