24 Apr Assignment 8c: Case Conceptualization Applying Different Theories Paper
Kaden and Leah have been married for 17 years and have 4 children ranging in age from 3-13. Over the last few years, they have begun to experience a breakdown in their marriage. Before having children, Leah worked as a pharmacist and enjoyed her work but chose to stay home with their children while they were young. Kaden’s job in finance provides enough money for the family to live comfortably on one salary. Several times over the years, Leah has expressed a desire to go back to work. Kaden disagrees, and it has become a source of conflict for the couple. Leah has begun to resent Kaden and the freedom work outside of the home provides him. Leah has become more serious about her desire to return to work with their youngest nearing his fourth birthday. Kaden has become increasingly frustrated with Leah’s sullen demeanor and short temper when discussing her desires. Both members of the couple agree that they are growing apart more and more each day, and the joy in their marriage has decreased significantly. They’ve chosen to come to counseling because they both agree that they want to honor the vows they made on their wedding day, even if neither one of them feels the love in their marriage any longer. They hope to come to a decision together about Leah’s work status.
