I’m working on a communications writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
For this exercise, reflect on the material presented in the three videos and identify one growth opportunity in your verbal communication skills.
In other words, what verbal skill do you believe you could/should strengthen to enhance your verbal communication competence? To name a few examples, would you benefit from working on phonemic, morphemic, syntactic, or pragmatic skills? Are there ways in which you could be more cooperative (in terms of honesty, informativeness, relevance, or clarity)? Could you incorporate “I” language or a more constructive complaint style? Will you be more sensitive or appreciative of cultural differences in verbal communication?
- Explain why you believe that skill is a growth need by giving an example or two when greater competence or a different strategy would have been beneficial.
- Articulate what steps you will take to build and further develop the skill.
