Argumentative Essay
The assignment is designed to be a continuation of the research paper process that includes careful, comprehensive reading and understanding of a chosen topic; well-written five-paragraph essay; and practice of documentation of citations according to the MLA format.
Simply put, an argumentative paper is a cooperative inquiry to seek the truth, not a persuasion to prove unsubstantiated claim at all cost. Thus, your task as a writer is to seek out evidence supporting an objective truth as understood by the community you are part of.
. You must work efficiently at selecting a topic, researching, gathering data, preparing an outline, writing a rough draft, revising and editing, and preparing a final draft.
In order to complete the assignment, follow the steps below:
1.Choose one of the assigned topics for your research paper, brainstorm and narrow your topic, so you know what type of cause-and-effect essay you will write.

3.Plan for the information search (books, articles, online magazines etc. in the library) and utilize notecards or annotated bibliography to store information from your sources. *You must find and use at least nine sources from Opposing Viewpoints (3), Gale ebooks (3), and SIRS Researcher (5).
4.Prepare and submit an outline of the research paper.
5.Write and submit a rough draft.
6.Using reader feedback, revise and edit the rough draft.
7.Write and submit the final paper.
