1. What area or areas of Healthcare Administration appeal to you most? Why? **Elaborate with textbook information on the highlighted. Some of my personal notes are listed. Be creative !!
a. Healthcare Financial Management
i. I have been an Accounting or Operations Manager for over 20 years, my first Bachelors is in Business Administration and Healthcare runs in the family, my mother is a nurse
b. Healthcare Management
i. Honestly enjoy the 6 management functions for Healthcare Management: Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Controlling, Directing, Decision Making
ii. Possess impeccable conceptual skills, technical skills and interpersonal skills (see attached resume if you want to use any details … they are NOT required.)
c. Healthcare Informatics
i. My husband is a 100% disabled veteran and I have been a certified Caregiver for 9 years.
ii. I would like to use my knowledge from my mother, continued Caregiver training and prior work experience and education to help others.
iii. Associates in Computer Science and a 30 years of continued computer science training and personal interest
iv. Mental health studys on ADHD, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety, and TBI’s, has led to my interest in human mind and brain and how people manipulate information.
2. What area or areas of Healthcare administration are least appealing to you? Why? **Be specific.
a. Healthcare Law and Policy –
i. I have NO interest in the specializing in law and policymaking.
ii. Worked at a Law firm for 7 months as an Accountant Manager and could not sit by when peoples ethics had to be judged. It was to hard on my heart.
iii. There are many different careers under this category, and they all require decisions that make me uncomfortable because what if I make a wrong choice.
3. What do you feel are the four (4) biggest challenges facing healthcare in the United States? **Provide specific examples and research.
4. What are two (2) recommendations for solving any one of the four biggest challenges you noted in 3.? **Provide specific recommendations. DO NOT say, “If people would pay for insurance, they would have it”. That is obvious! But there are reasons that simple solution does not happen…tell me about those reasons.
