Hey, you should write an essay Annotated Bibliography about “Should sports be compulsory in schools, high schools, and colleges?”
follow all these requirements:
- It must be a current controversy. A controversy is anything experts in a field disagree on and current means I should be able to see credentialed, subject-matter experts debating the topic NOW (not just political pundits or random people who still live in their parent’s basement producing their own blog).
- It must be of academic value. In other words, there are credentialed experts in the field actively studying the problem because it is worthy of their time and effort.
- You must be able to find and present at least FIVE (5) recent, credible, peer-reviewed sources on the topic for your annotated bibliography and then your research-based argument essay. If there are no recent (2015 and later) peer-reviewed sources on the topic, it will not work for this assignment. Period. If you cannot find current sources and you try to make it work, you will not be happy with the result.

- LOOK BACK OVER POINTS 1-3 – just because you want to write about it does not make it a viable topic.
- It must be a topic you can write dispassionately about. If the topic you choose is something that causesyou to get angry, stop talking to friends, froth at the mouth, etc., choose something else.
- You must be able to find sources that disagree with the position you are trying to argue in your paper(counterarguments) so you can write about the opposing viewpoint as well as your own.
- Note that you will do better, in every way, by choosing a topic different from the ones your classmates are writing about or a topic that is overplayed and overused. You will find more enjoyment with original topics, so feel free to think outside the box, so long as you can still meet these requirements.
- Finally, this is a topic you are going to work with for the remainder of the semester as the sources you use for your Annotated Bibliography are also going to be the ones you use for you Research-Supported Argument next. Choose something that isn’t boring or confusing to you. A boring topic will produce a boring essay, which will in turn earn a boring grade. No one will be happy in this scenario,
- Essay Length and Format Requirements:
- Paper should be typed using Times New Roman, 12 point, SINGLE spaced. Each annotated bibliography entry MUST have all three (3) of the items listed on page 2 and must start out with a full works cited entry in proper MLA.
- This essay will be worth 200 points. Late submissions will not be accepted.
- For each Annotated Bibliography entry, you must include:
- Overview of the article: main points, findings, summary (100 words).
- Initial Appraisal: credibility and trustworthiness of source (50 words).
- Content Analysis: why this source is good for your topic (50 words).

b-c. Only contains four sources instead of the required five. All sources are later than 2015.
d. The sources are reputable academic journals.
e-f. If these are physical copies of the sources, then they appear to be properly cited and formated.
g-h. Each source has three paragraphs and meets the 200 word mark.
i. The paper is properly formated.
2. Each paragraph discusses the proper topic its meant for.
3. I would find the fifth source and complete it. Also, I would look fo the online link to the sources so readers can be more easily accessed.
4. Appears to be well written.
