With the exception of Crevecoeur’s letter, each of these documents makes an argument that goes against the dominant powers in the society in which they are situated: Henry against ratification of the Constitution, Murray against patriarchy, Tecumseh against American expansion into Native American lands. Which of these three do you think makes the most compelling argument? What makes it so compelling? (You should use corroborating evidence from Foner GML chs. 7-8 and the study guide to help!

Some historians have argued that the expansion of democracy to white non-landowning Americans in the 1820s and 30s relied on ensuring that others’ (such as Native Americans and African Americans) rights were diminished. Based on the GML chapter and these two documents, explain how persuasive you find such an argument.
