For our first essay (3.5-4 pages), I’d like us to summarize and analyze the argument made about “realism” in this interesting video essay on the Safdie Bros. Good Time
To do this effectively, attempt to overview what the film critic is saying about film style and how it lets us see—or NOT see—the motivations of characters correctly.

4) Finally, analyze/argue whether this helps you understand the Safdie Bros cinematic approach more. Is film a mirror screen for them—and what do you think the point of “realism” is for these young directors? Is it about reflecting objective truth? Something more? Or something less?
