Write about how both W.E.B. Du Bois and Ida B. Wells sought to deal with a rising tide of racism and segregation after the end of Reconstruction. How were the two visions compatible, and yet different, in addressing problems facing African Americans, especially after Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) legalized segregation in the United States? Refer to W.E.B. Du Bois’ ”Your Country?” (Reading 113) and Wells’s “Crusade for Justice” (Reading 114).
