From a public policy perspective I had the understanding that its formulation and execution would vary based on the size and scope of the policy and existing structure. What I did not anticipate was precisely how complex the agenda setting and framing actions were on the macrolevel, or how intricate the rational and nonrational differences affect the thought process on the microlevel.
I could definitely see myself using the lessons revealed in the class if I were ever fortunate enough to be in a leadership position. The exercises involving the hypothetical DRNC allowed me to understand the level of communication and coordination involved with an operation of any size. Not only did it force me to think about the straightforward procedural requirements but to think outside the box and to take the other side of the coin, or the other side of the argument’s position into account. I think very highly of this class and the way it is presented to us students. I value each of my classmates opinions and input that they have had for me over the past two months. This class exemplified the purpose of standard operating procedures and the value of training and knowledge of the people around you
