08 Aug How the strategy is effective for differentiating to support individual student needs.
Students with disabilities have specific IEP goals that must be considered when differentiating assessment. It is important that all teachers who are involved with the student work together to assess the student’s progress and determine the effectiveness of assessments and accommodations.
Use the five assessment methods identified in Topic 2 and the five categories of IDEA selected in Topic 3 to inform this assignment.
Your instructional team is struggling with selecting appropriate assessment differentiation strategies to support students with disabilities in the inclusive classroom. The team lead has asked you to prepare a short professional development presentation demonstrating how you have selected appropriate strategies for specific categories of disability under IDEA.
Create a 10-12 slide digital presentation about differentiating assessments that could be shared with colleagues in your content area and grade level(s) (K-8 elementary or K-12 special education).
For each of the five assessment methods identified in Topic 2, select an appropriate differentiation strategy that could be implemented to assess the learning objectives developed in Topic 1. The differentiation strategy should be appropriate for one or more of the five disability categories identified in Topic 3. Include the following in your presentation for each of the differentiation strategies:
Disability categories appropriate for the strategy.
How the strategy is effective for differentiating to support individual student needs.
