The style of the advertisement is using a very positive body language and the good part is that both the nurses are maintaining a direct gaze

this is my discussion post:

The advertisement provided is meant for an audience comprising of youth who are looking forward to taking up nursing as a career. That does not mean, that it is targeted only towards people wanting to take up nursing as a career, this advertisement can also kindle the interest amongst the youth about the profession itself. The purpose of advertisement is to recruit students for a nursing course. This is a basically a display advertisement, which is meant for professionals. This can also be categorized as an end product advertisement which looks to serve potential students.

This advertisement features two nurses seemingly very satisfied with the profession they have opted for.The wordings have been so designed that they make serious life threatening situations look very simple to handle by professional nurses. The nursing program seems to suggest that they turn out highly trained professionals who are not only able to do their duty but also tend to have a humane touch, which is so important for nurses to be imbibed with.

Of course the wordings in the advertisement make an attempt to lighten the mood and make an emotional appeal to the general public about the beauty of the profession. A fracture of the tibia is a serious issue, but what is impressive is that the nurse is able to diagnose it simply by having a look on the nature of the wound. This is possible not only through experience but also through rigorous training. The program appeals to the public about its effectiveness through these words.

The style of the advertisement is using a very positive body language and the good part is that both the nurses are maintaining a direct gaze. The style of the wordings can be considered to be dramatic and at the same time humorous. The structure of the advertisement can be said to be very rhythmic and crisp in nature. Two sentences are placed in bold white font and abruptly turning to yellow- marks the seriousness of the situation. Both the nurses placed on the right of the sentences with same uniform and purposefully having blonde hair indicates the uniformity of the nursing profession in spite of the highly varying degree of challenges the nurses face and yet they maintain a uniform demeanor while dealing with the situations. The advertisement is trying to project the program’s capability to instill these high levels of professionalism amongst young recruits.

here is an example of someone else’s(please do NOT use this, this has already been posted by someone else in my class, just use as an example. It is on the same thing, so if you can gain any information to further my answer that would be fine, but no copying) :

Nursing is based on fundamental training and beauty of a woman.

Audience: Looking at this advertisement, it can be interpreted for those who want to be in the nursing field. It is supposed to appeal to people, especially women, that being a nurse can depict one as smart and beautiful. Especially, the fact that both of the women shown in the advertisement are both from the Emergency Department, it can make it appear that it is to get more nurses in the ED.

Purpose: The purpose of this advertisement is to get more nurses and show the appeal to being one. It portrays that these two women are able to prove what they can do from both a mental and physical side. “Izzy made Roy’s heart flutter. It’d stopped for ten minutes” portrays the image that because Izzy was so beautiful, because she was a nurse, it caused the man to be overwhelmingly endowed by her (Strawberry Design, 2017).

It is important to note that from my own interpretation, I find this advertisement very sexist, especially Izzy’s, due to the ignorant ideology of what being a nurse is about. Furthermore it is important to point out that Emma being able to deduct that John had a full fracture was due to her ability to assess and evaluate and not by just glancing at him.

Content: This advertisement was trying to appeal to women to become nurses, as stated before. The team presenting this ad wanted to show that nursing is a great field to be in, however, it does explicitly say which hospital to work at, nor does it exemplify what being a nurse really entails. It provides gender stereotypes based on the fact that nurses are predominantly women, when there are plenty of men who go into nursing as well.

Mood: The mood is supposed to be very genuine and even romantic. Highlighting Izzy’s advertisement (Strawberry Design, 2017), it shows an amorous exchange between the two individuals leading consumers of this advertisement to believe that once a woman becomes a nurse, they are viewed as much more attractive. It also emulates a sense of dismissal in Emma’s advertisement (Strawberry Design, 2017) as it depicts a woman who can figure out her most basic form of training. Overall, the ad was meant to show the need to show status and have a place to belong, while also showing that relationships can be made in the field of employment (Week 5: Presentation, 2022).

Style: The style of the advertisement seemed like it was supposed to be an appeal to emotion and association techniques (Week 5: Presentation, 2022). It appeals to women that relationships can be formed within any circumstance and that being able to use one’s knowledge can present good feedback. For men, it shows that nurses, that are women, are smart and available for fantasizing and appearance.

Structure: The structure is supposed to be concise and straight to the point, however, give different interpretations depending on gender and personality. For Emma’s, it would probably appeal to women more than men as it is stating that she was able to come to a good conclusion based on her experience in the nursing field. For Izzy’s, it appeals to more men and some women that attention can come in the most random and inappropriate places.
