Your paper should be 4-5 pages in length (double spaced) and should not incorporate texts from outside of class. Instead, concentrate on interpreting the texts we’ve read, especially through doing close readings of passages. Since the papers are to be relatively short, you should work to make your answers concise. Explain, compare, and contrast Frantz Fanon’s and Karl Marx’s accounts of dehumanization under, and revolution from, colonialism and capitalism, respectively. In these conditions of dehumanization, how do colonized subjects (for Fanon) and the proletariat (for Marx) find power? Which account is more compelling, and why?
