Choose three individuals who work in the criminal justice system (police, courts, corrections, probation, juvenile, etc.). Ask them the questions that are included on the Interview Assignment Description. Analyze the answers that you receive. Are there any patterns? Did anything surprise you?
Assignments must be between 300-400 words, in a standard 12 pt font. If citations are used, APA style should be implemented.
The answers for each individual interviewed must be included when you submit your assignment. Do not include names of respondees on answers. Ensure respondees that they will remain anonymous.
Part 2
Discussion Board Topic: Create a plan of assessment for either a jail/prison, courthouse, or police agency. How would you successfully assess if an agency is effective? How would you assess if they are meeting their goals? What types of measures would you use for evaluation (crime rate, court cases processed, overcrowding rate are some examples)?
Part 3
Assignment Description: In what ways have women and girls occupied a minority status in corrections? How has this status affected how they are treated in the system, from policing, to courts, to corrections?
- The two readings, A Historical Review of Mother and Child Programs for Incarcerated Women and Impact of Victimization in the Lives of Incarcerated, located in Section 11 of your textbook deal with issues that are especially impactful for incarcerated women.
How do you think motherhood and victimization influence the criminogenic behaviors of women? Do you feel that the criminal justice system has responded to the special needs of women inmates?
