In 2017, a United States Supreme Court ruling legalized sports betting. This action led to a push for various state governments to legalize different forms of gambling and casinos in their states. Texas, however, still has one of the more restrictive anti-gambling laws in America. Furthermore, with tribal gambling legal in Oklahoma and New Mexico, and commercial gambling legal in Louisiana, many believe these states are taking away potential tax revenue that could very well be used here in Texas.
