discussion section one: This week, you will watch a movie, The Circle, and reflect on whether the central character, Mae Holland, is a mentor. Your discussion will draw from this movie, so I recommend reviewing the discussion questions before watching the movie.

Watch The Circle. I wasn’t able to find a free version–though if you have Amazon Prime it’s free there. Feel free to find a summary of the plot somewhere if renting is inconvenient.
Then go to the left side of Blackboard and click on Discussions and then this week’s forum. (The link above is a shortcut.)
- What did the organization need to decide?
- What were the one or more moral problems?
- How, if at all, did you empathize with Mae?
- For what reasons, if any, did you admire Mae?
- How, if at all, did you identify with Mae?
- Is Mae one of your mentors? For what reasons?
Then respond to at least 1 other classmate, posing a question or comment that substantively expands the discussion. Respond to a post with no replies before responding to a post with at least 1 reply.
Discussion section two: Read Intercultural Communication A Contextual Approach 8th Edition by James W. Neuliep-498-572 (1).pdf, then answer the following question
How does your language affect the way you think? And how then does nonverbal communications, in your opinion, affect how we communicate? What dialects, sounds, gestures, dress code, and smells call your attention? How do you think these verbal and nonverbal codes affect communications activities and why are they important for us to consider as communications professionals?
