Purpose:
• Identify key ideas, representative authors and works, significant historical or cultural events, and characteristic perspectives or attitudes expressed in the literature of different periods or regions.
• Analyze literary works as expressions of individual or communal values within the social, political, cultural, or religious contexts of different literary periods.
• To familiarize the student with the TurnitIn submission link and how to review comments via TurnitIn.
Literature: “I Hear America Singing” by Walt Whitman
Assignment:
• What message does Whitman send about the American Spirit in the poem “I Hear America Singing”? Does this same American spirit exist today? Be certain to support your claims with evidence from the poem and modern day life.
Requirements:
• The essay should be at least one complete page and no longer than two.
• Thesis statement should be directly stated in the introduction. Please underline or highlight the thesis.
• Each body paragraph should have a topic sentence.
