Adelie Penguins Population Under Threat Discussion

In the videos this week, you learned from people who are intensively studying populations of large wild mammals and trees in Africa. Their stories are dramatic and impressive. There are equally interesting stories right around you, now. Biologists at CSUN study populations of many kinds of local wildlife including plants, seaweeds, crickets and urban coyotes.

You can, too. Have you noticed a change in the numbers of any living thing? (For this week, leave out people. All of next week is about human population.)

I notice that over the last few years, there is less grass and more drought-tolerant plants in my neighborhood, for example. People are growing less grass in lawns and replacing them with different plants. The grass population is declining and the populations of succulent plants are increasing.

What population have you seen changing?
