You have now accessed both primary (documents in American Yawp) and secondary (lectures and textbook chapter) materials concerning African American suffrage and politics in the Reconstruction era. If you were a historian, what would you say if someone asked you to describe the political position of African Americans in the South during Reconstruction? What would be your thesis statement?
