Persuasive Letter
You are working in one of the GTA Hospital in the Foundation Department. Your manager is asking to draft a letter asking community to donate fund to your hospital.
To proceed, apply the following suggestions:
Search the hospital website and learn about the previous fundraising events and apply it in your letter. If there is no information, brainstorm and plan an event asking community to donate money to buy equipment or allocating the money towards any research (for example breast cancer, COVID 19 treatment or medications, renovating one of the patient care units, or buying equipment).
You can add any virtual events such as cooking webinars, a concert by local musicians, or other interesting events if you think it is applicable.
Instructions (AIRA)
1. You are using a block style open or mixed punctuation letter. Do not forget to create a letterhead.
2. To grab attention, use a brief, relevant and engaging opening statement.
3. To build interest try to use facts, statistics, direct and indirect benefits, or special details.
4. To reduce resistance, emphasize the benefit of additional services/ programs and their positive impact on the community e.g., improving the quality of care for patients.
5. To motivate action, repeat the benefit, add deadline, provide the method of payment, cheque payable to ————-and send a self-stamped envelope for easy response.
6. For e-payments ensure to add the link adding minimum and maximum amounts.
