biology spreadsheet and need a reference to help me learn.
Requirements:
Our Environment
Environment is the surrounding where organisms live.
Environment is just a place in time.
Eco-system
Eco-system depend upon all the essential life process such as photosynthesis.
Eco-system remains the same no matter where the organism travel.
There are the two types of component.
Abiotic component.
Biotic component.
Abiotic components [non-living]
The Abiotic components are organic, inorganic and climate factors such as air, water, soil and sunlight.
Biotic component [living organisms]
The living organisms present in ecosystem form its biotic components.
TYPES OF BIOTIC COMPONENTS
Producers? All organisms produce organic to inorganic substance called producers..
Consumers? The consumers feed depend on producers directly or in-directly called consumers.
Decomposer[reducers]?Breakdown of complex substance into simpler substance called decomposers..
Kinds of ecosystem
Natural ecosystem.
Artificial ecosystem.
Natural ecosystem?they are maintained by themselves under natural conditions without any major interference by man.
EXAMPLE?river, lakes, ponds, etc.
Artificial ecosystem?
they are maintained by man made.
Like crop yield, garden etc.
Food chain
Food chain is a flow of energy from one organisms to next and next to so on?..
Tropic level
In a food chain, every step where transfer of energy [in the form of food] takes place is called a tropic level.
Like?
Plant—–Elephant.
Grass—–Deer—Tiger.
Grass—Mouse—Snake?Eagle.
Grass—Grasshopper?frog?snake?eagle.
Ten percent law
During the transfer of energy from one tropic level to the next, only 10 per. Energy is available to the higher tropic level and the remaining 90 per. Is used up in various biological process such as respiration.
Biological magnification—-This progressive increase the concentration of harmful non biodegradable chemicals at different tropic level in a food chain is called biological magnification.
Food web? They are interconnected with each some part of interlocking pattern is called food web.
Ecological Pyramids
Tropic structure is characteristic of each type of ecosystem.tne tropic structure and the function at successive tropic level, i.e Producers?herbivores–Carnivores may be shown graphically by means of ecological pyramid..
They are the three types.
Pyramids of number
Pyramids of biomass.
Pyramids of energy.
Types of solid wastes
Biodegradable.
Non biodegradable.
Biodegradable waste—[they are recycled]
They are generally from living organism
They cause minimum environmental pollutants.
Then the waste can be broken down or decomposed easily into simpler, harmful substance by nature [or by action of decomposes] are termed as biodegradable wastes..
Harmful effects of biodegradable wastes
Large heaps of wastes make the scene unpleasant.
They produce foul smell and makes the surrounding air unfit for breathing.
Non biodegradable wastes
they cannot be broken down decomposed into simple and harmful substance by nature[or action of decomposers] are termed as non biodegradable wastes..
Harmful effect of non biodegradable waste
The substance alter the nature of the soil thereby making it alkaline or acidic. In both the cases, soil became infertile and the crop yield on such soil decrease.
Managing the garbage we produce:
Open dumping.
Land filling.
Recycling.
Composting.
Production of biomass anf manure.
Incineration.
Ozone
How is it getting depleted
They protect our earth from most of the sun harmful ultraviolet radiations.
The U.V radiations are very harmful for the living systems.
Formation of ozone
The ultraviolet radiations of short wavelength are absorbed by the oxygen molecules present in stratosphere. As a consequence, the oxygen atoms combine with oxygen present in stratosphere to form ozone molecules.
Ozone depletion
The thinning of the ozone layer in a particular area is termed as ozone hole.
The major cause of ozone depletion are air pollutants. Of all the air pollutants,[CFCS] are mostly responsible for ozone depletion?
Thanku.
