In this weeks journal entry, address the following, Why I will achieve success in my Social Work program.? This journal entry should identify characteristics and traits that will lead to graduating from the MSW program, starting a career, and moving up in life. You will also want to discuss areas within your life that may need improvement so that they do not become barriers to success. Also write about how the strengths in your life will help you overcome obstacles that may arise. Finally, create a self-care plan to form strategies describing how you will cope with excessive demands, increased levels of stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary stress.

While there is no suggested length for the journal entries, I am suggesting that your entry be less than a page. You may find yourself going over a page and that is not a problem. I do want you to know that more is not necessarily better. I am not looking for more than 2 pages for an entry. Feel free to write in the first person for this assignment. This assignment requires critical thinking and original thought. So, not all journal entries will need for in-text citations or a reference page.
I have placed a template for what the journal entry should look like on the following page. You will notice that on the first journal entry there is a reference page because you are citing the CSWE competencies on that particular entry.
Do not overthink journaling assignments.
Journal Entry #1
Read the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Competencies and create a journal entry addressing the following:
Your thoughts on why the CSWE believes each of these competencies to be essential for social work education.
Your thoughts on why these competencies are essential for you as a student, an intern, and a future professional in the social work field.
Your plans for incorporating these competencies into your practice as a student and an intern.
This is the format I desire for you to use for the journal assignments. It is for the most part an APA style format. I have made one exception for this assignment. I want an extra space between the journal instruction paragraph the beginning of your journal entry. I do require that you use Times New Roman 12-point font with one-inch margins. The length of the text of your journal entry will depend largely on what you have to say. Do not over think this. I am more interested in quality of words than I am quantity of words. You should be able to complete your journal entry in 1 2 pages.
Most of your journal entries will not require in-text citations and a reference page. However, this first journal entry will require you to use in-text citations related to the CSWE competencies. You will find that reference citation at the end of this document. I do not think you will need to use level headers in the journal entries.
Each journal entry will have their own instructions. Copy each journal instruction and paste over the previous journals instructions at the top of the first page as this one is. Then follow the instructions to write your journal entry.
