Service lines are a modern organizational structure technique for resource planning and allocation that may be applied to any size of business. The healthcare industry is always evolving and progressing at a breakneck pace. In order for any healthcare practice to remain successful for years to come, it has become increasingly essential to prepare for the future during the last few decades. Hospitals, clinics, private practices, and other healthcare institutions can better prepare for whatever may arise in the future by planning for the unexpected. Planning is essential in all aspects of running a business, from financial decisions to structural considerations within a hospital or clinic. A strategic plan for a hospital enables for greater efficiency in all elements of running a practice, no matter how large or little (Davoren, 2018). Strategic health planning entails establishing objectives and goals for where a firm wants to go in the future, as well as devising a strategy to attain those goals. Healthcare planning, in particular, must account for prospective government policy changes, technological developments, and economic trends that could significantly alter an organization's operations. Any hospital or health system that wants to prosper not just in the short term, but also in the long run, should pay attention to the importance of strategic planning in healthcare.
