Myosin is essential in muscle contraction because it moves the actin forward to shorten the sarcomere for a contraction. Myosin is located next to actin, slightly overlapping within the sarcomere. Without myosin, actin would not be able to shorten the sarcomere.  What would happen if that step did not occur? Would the muscle be able to contract at all? Would it stay contracted and not be able to relax? Discuss how the process of muscle contraction would be disrupted.
