To understand the latest trends in Quality Management/Improvement it is necessary to review articles related to health care quality from professional medical or health care journals. All class sessions incorporate discussions on the latest trends presented in these journal articles. Students will be expected to read and summarize assigned articles or readings in the form of short papers (a maximum of two, doubled spaced and typed pages).
1 Essay- Please note, Topic will be assigned by lecturer. Example of topics may include:
a. The IMPACT of PAY FOR PERFORMANCE PROGRAMS on IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE & HEALTHCARE SERVICES.
Select an article from a scientific healthcare related journal published within the last 5 years. You may use your student ID to log into the library. Instructions are available for using the library. A sample list is noted below. Do not limit to this list there are many other available journals related to Quality:

The summaries should be well thought out. The following is a suggested format for your papers.
1) Introduction – Reason for selecting the article must be clearly noted in your introduction. Also mention current relevance of the topic in your introduction.
2) Ideas or thoughts presented by the article. This is a summary of key information from the article.
3) Your analysis of the article and a critique. A discussion related to information reviewed including any supporting information from your lecture notes or text book.
4) Conclusions that may be derived from the article.
5) Writing style/Grammar

Also please remember to format this paper. In the formatting a cover page would be appreciated. In addition please title each paragraph or section in your essay. Be logical in your approach and discuss the issue based on your selected article well. The article you select should not be more than 5 years old. In your introduction include a clear reason for selecting that article.
