 Many people are very nervous about speaking in public, but this is not true for everyone. Some are comfortable presenting to a large crowd but are concerned about how to speak up appropriately in a meeting with peers or their boss. In this Discussion, you will share your areas of most and least communication apprehension and will give and receive feedback regarding becoming more comfortable when communicating.

Post an evaluation of the impact of communication apprehension on your ability to be a better leader and manager. In your evaluation, do the following:

  • Describe your area of most apprehension and your area of least apprehension (group discussion, interpersonal, meetings, or public speaking).
  • Provide at least one example to explain how the area in which you are the most confident (i.e., have the least apprehension) helps you in your work and working relationships.
  • Provide at least one example to explain how the area in which you are the least confident (i.e., have the most apprehension) hinders you in your work and working relationships.
  • Evaluate one specific way in which reducing your overall communication apprehension would help you be a better leader and manager.
