EBP CRITIQUE GUIDELINES

 

 

 

You should prepare an assessment of a model of intervention for community-based practice that is presented in the Community Toolbox, chapter 2. The major sections of the paper should include:

 

Contextual Variables associated with Use of the Model

a. A description of the setting(s) in which the intervention is designed to be implemented.

 

i. A description of the population to whom the intervention is to be applied.

 

ii. Assessment of the goodness-of-fit between the population, setting, and EBP (evidence-based practice).

 

b. A conceptual model explaining the practice model in theoretical terms (overview of major concepts and how they relate to each other; in other words, explain how the model is supposed to work).

 

c. A discussion of action steps necessary to successfully build the program within the community.

 

d. A review of the evidence that supports the program or intervention

 

i. How many studies have been conducted that support the EBP?

 

ii. In general, describe the research designs used to evaluate the EBP (e.g., randomized clinical trials, randomized experiments, non-random quasi experiments, etc.).

 

iii. Describe outcome measures used in studies of the effectiveness of the intervention.

 

iv. Argue for, and support, your own conclusions about the strength of the evidentiary support of the practice or program.
