Choose an example of an emerging healthcare technology that may improve patient access to care (i.e., telehealth, nanotechnology, genetics, genomics, software/hardware, robotics).
Note: EHR and bar code scanning are NOT examples of emerging technology.
· Introduce and describe the new tool of your choice. Explain how this tool is an example of an emerging technology.
· Describe the target population. Analyze the social, ethical, and legal ramifications of the tool.
· Discuss the applicability of this new technology to nursing practice (i.e., patient safety, cost-effectiveness, health outcomes).

1. What did you learn from the interactive case study? When using various technologies, what steps should nurses take to validate the data from tools such as an electronic blood pressure machine?
2. In this case study, was the nurse able to use clinical judgment to correlate her clinical assessment with the data provided by the fetal monitoring technology? Why or why not?
3. What are the safety implications for the mom and her unborn child? How does artificial intelligence (driven digital health technologies) impact nurses’ clinical judgment and safety of patient care? Be specific and provide examples.
