 Chapter 12: Legal cultural research is the study of societies and how the societies develop their legal culture. The elements of legal culture include styles of legislation, court proceedings, adjudication, and the status, action, and acceptance by the members of the legal profession and of public officials. Culture is relevant to the development of law. According to Brett, a society’s moral behavior may not be in codified law, and sometimes business activities develop before the lawmakers are able to develop laws. The current international trade agreements stress flexibility and a willingness to change, thereby showing an interest by participating countries in looking at the law from more than one country’s point of view.
