The National Library of Medicine is the world’s largest biomedical library and a leader in research in computational health informatics. It plays a pivotal role in translating biomedical research into practice National Library of Medicine (NLM) | National Institutes of Health (NIH)).
Analyze the types of research data NLM contains. How could the data in NLM be used for research and for clinical decision-making? At what step of the clinical decision-making process it is applicable? Why not at the other ones? Is it an effective and efficient way for a specific organization? Why? Assess the obstacles in NLM data utilization for research and clinical decision-making and offer ways to overcome them. In which ways NLM database differs from MEDLINE and MedPAR databases with respect to research and clinical decision-making? Finally evaluate the reliability of NLM databases for clinical decision-making as a provider.
