Historically defined racialized groups, such as Indigenous people, Black Americans, Latinx Americans, and Asian Americans, have faced social struggles that continue to shape their experiences within the U.S. education system.
· Choose one racialized group (e.g., Indigenous people, Black Americans, Latinx Americans, Asian Americans) and summarize key historical events or social struggles that have affected their educational opportunities. Consider policies such as segregation, language suppression, displacement, and forced assimilation.
· Analyze the impact of systemic and historical trauma on the group’s educational experiences today. How do the legacies of exclusion, discrimination, and cultural erasure impact students’ sense of belonging, mental health, and academic achievement?
· What trauma-informed, culturally responsive strategies can educators use to support students from historically marginalized groups? Provide at least two research-based strategies that promote healing, resilience, and equitable learning opportunities.
