The counselor-in-training must have the opportunity to become familiar with all areas of the site, and the more you know, the likelier you are to use the resources at hand. Therefore, please prepare a 1–3 page description of the site that includes information such as the organization’s mission statement, brief history, and unique features. The following may be included: age range of the clients, the role of the counselor within the setting, the role of the counseling program within the organization, and other services provided. In addition, discuss the nature of direct service to clients (approximate amount of time spent in individual and group counseling; structure, topic, and frequency of group counseling; any available statistics regarding number of clients seen each month and relevant issues; professional development opportunities; and the structure, topic, and frequency of consultation).
