29 May Assignment 1: Illustrate Value in the Organization
Background
In your reading and videos, you learned how processes are the core foundation for the business and/or department running successfully. Processes drive efficiency when used correctly and enhance production. Due to these outcomes of processes, a company creates ‘value’ for the customer, the supply chain partners, and the customer. Keep the following in mind, from the PowerPoint, as you brainstorm your assignment for this week:
· Adding Value with Process Innovation
· Examine processes from the perspective of the value they add
· As you study operations management, keep two principles in mind:
· Each part of an organization, not just the operations function, must design and operate processes that are part of a supply chain and deal with quality, technology, and staffing issues.
· Each function of an organization has its own identity and yet is connected with operations through shared processes.
Instructions
Choose either Amazon or FedEx and determine two values and how the value chain operates. Identify the quality and technology involved in the two values. Finally, identify the previous process to the value you identified and discuss the next process that you believe would add ‘lean’ or efficiency. You may use visuals or explain the value. For example, a visual might be a workflow of the value identified. An explanation might include steps and bullets in your paper. Remember to cite your work if you find a visual or steps from a website.
Length: This assignment must be 2-3 pages (excluding the title and reference page).
References: Include 3 scholarly resources.
