Activity 1:

Prepare a PowerPoint that addresses the following:

• The lack of payer mix in the clinic
• What efforts need to be taken by the clinic to improve their financial situation
• The issue of inappropriate billing to Medicare and Medicaid
• Why the inappropriate billing to Medicare and Medicaid are legal and ethical issues
• The ramifications of these actions
• What needs to be done to address this issue.

Activity 2:

Identify the issues in the case study surrounding Medicare and Medicaid and analyze why these are legal and ethical issues.  What are the ramifications?

Activity 3: Project Assignment

Project Assignments are not to be turned in for a grade weekly.  They are to be worked on and completed weekly however to keep you on track for your final project.

Decide how you will fund your clinic.  Be specific about where you will seek funds, what type of payment including insurance and self pay that you will accept. Determine whether you will see patients without payment or without upfront payment or proof of eligibility.  

Make a budget for the clinic. You can use the  here to get you started.  Be specific about income and outcome.  Be sure to address all expenses.
