Assignment 2 (Modules 4, 5, and 6)
Your main job in this assignment is to show your understanding of Modules 4, 5, and 6.
Answer each question using the course material (the textbook, online module, and links provided in the modules) only. Each answer should be 100200 words. Portions of answers beyond 200 words will not be marked. Points must be supported using information from the course material. Sources must be cited and referenced using APA style, 7th edition format.
1. Two students, Peter and Paul, took the same exam. Peter studied hard and got an A. Paul studied hard but failed the exam. Apply the Lazarus appraisal model presented in Figure 6.2 of your textbook to the situation of each student and conclude which emotions they will be feeling. Explain each choice-point (one sentence) on the decision tree.
2. Take a position on the argument about the importance of emotion to reasoning. Descartes thought emotion was second-rate and Damasio argued that it was important. What do you think? Why?
3. When does a behaviour become a psychological disorder? What criteria must be satisfied? Provide an example of a specific behaviour (such as road rage) and examples of how each criterion could be used.
