15 Aug CRITICAL ANALYSIS ESSAY
Write a critical analysis essay on an article provided by the instructor with a two hour time limit. This is for a final exam so the essay will not be provided until after you start the online exam.
Teachers notes below:
Your work in this final module will link the first weeks’ study of critical reading to composition of a critique essay. The critique that you’ll write for the final exam draws on skills you’ve developed throughout the term: reading with discipline and discernment; briefly summarizing the key points in a text; recognizing arguments, methods of development, compelling or ineffective uses of evidence and argumentative appeals in a text.
The basic critique outline suggested in your course reader, Behrens and Rosen (2006, p. 38) will be our starting point:
- Introduction
- Summary of the author’s main points
- Analysis of the author’s presentation of his or her information
- Your response to the presentation, including analysis of how the author’s text connects (or doesn’t) with its intended audience
- Conclusions about the overall validity of the text.
