LENGTH:  500 words minimum

ASSIGNMENT:

You will write a brief personal self-assessment of your work.  You will need to review your written work for the course. Submit your essay online.

MATERIALS:

Your own essays.

PLAN:

       FormatSet up your paper in MLA document style, with a header, name block, title, and double-spaced text.  No sources are used, so no documentation is required.

       Conventionsthis paper is a personal reflection, so it should be written in the first person, but standards of good English apply.

       IntroductionBriefly state why you are writing this paper (Something about examining your work as a student should suffice).  You should address key learning experiences. Please refrain from stating that you are writing because it is your final or that you are required to.  Find another rhetorically significant way to inspire interest in an audience about your writing process.

       Body ParagraphsDiscuss your reading, research, and/or writing in English 102 by reflecting on how well you met two outcomes listed below.  Consider both strengths and weaknesses, important lessons learned. This might just be two paragraphs or so.

       ConclusionBriefly summarize your accomplishments and any gaps you feel may need continued work.  These accomplishments and gaps can be about both writing and overall learning habits.

Here are the outcomes of the course to help give you some ideas about key learning experiences.

      establish a voice appropriate to the topic selected and the rhetorical situation.

      clarify major aims, arrange material to support aims, and provide sufficient materials to satisfy expectations of readers.

      select, evaluate, and interact effectively with sources, subordinating them to the writer’s purpose and creating confidence that they have been represented fairly;

      recognize the existence of discourse communities with their different conventions and forms.
