Task 1: Opening statement
a) Please review an attached case study – Oklahoma Bombing
b) After youve done that, find an excerpt from a newspaper or website about a criminal case in Canada that you can write an opening statement about. You can choose to be the lawyer for either the Crown or the defence.
c) Use specific details from the article to strengthen your argument. You will be assessed on your ability not only to present the facts effectively, but also to do so in a manner that clearly highlights whether you are writing for the Crown or the defence.
