Clarification on “Earnings Differential Data Investigation”
The data table you create should include the Control Variable and each of the other four variables in your selected set of data.
The data table should also have a “difference column” that compares each of the four variables to the Control Variable.
If you are investigating the Educational Attainment data set, your data table should have a total of 10 columns which consists of:
Years
No high school
High school grads, No college
Some college, or associate degree
Bachelor’s degree
Advanced degree
Comparison No high school v. Bachelor’s degree
Comparison High school grad v. Bachelor’s degree
Comparison Some college, or associate degree v. Bachelor’s degree
Comparison Advanced degree v. Bachelor’s degree
If you are investigating the Occupational data set, your data table should have a total of 10 columns which consists of::
Years
Service
Management, professional, and related
Sales and Office
Nat resource, construction, and maintenance
Production, Transportation, and Material Moving Occupations
Comparison Management, professional, and related v. Service
Comparison Sales and Office v. Service
Comparison Nat resource, construction, and maintenance v. Service
Comparison Production, Transportation, and Material Moving Occupations v. Service
Regardless of which data set you used, you should submit five (5) graphs:
One graph with all five variables showing the trend over the required years
A graph showing the comparison between each of the non-control variables to the Control Variable. (This would be four graphs.)
As far as your text answers to the questions, you should be considering the relationships between all the variables to the Control Variable.
