15 Aug Take-Home Test
Complete TWO of the following:
- Write a letter from Paul to a young Gentile man in Galatia who heard Paul’s letter to the Galatians and is now concerned because he has undergone circumcision. He has written to Paul expressing his fears and regrets and you must compose a reply that Paul might send.
- Write a letter from Paul to a young woman in Corinth who has developed a crush on him and has written him an ardent love-letter.
- Write a letter from Paul to the Christian community in Athens helping them to understand why some Christ-believers have died before Jesus Christ returns.
Your "Pauline" letters should reflect Paul’s thoughts and ideas as they are found in his undisputed epistles. Include references to those ideas in parentheses, e.g: (I Cor 2:6). Your creations should also follow the format of an ancient letter with the appropriate introductions and conclusions. Each letter should be 300 – 500 words. My primary criterion for grading is how convincingly you impersonate Paul. For example, if you include references to the gospels, which are much later than Paul’s letters, you will lose marks. You are focusing on what Paul would write in these situations.
