How does leadership differ from management? Are all managers leaders? Are all leaders managers? Should they be?
Manager vs Leaders

I think that a manager should always be a leader but leaders are not always managers. The textbook says, decision making is the essence of management (Robbins, 50). There are many things that go into being a manager which is decision making, the tough conversations and help facilitate. There are many times when a manager has people on their team that is more capable to lead the team than them. I was speaking to my friend the other day about this guy we know who has been serving at the church faithfully for five years and the job he applied for her did not get, someone from Florida came to take the position. I remember thinking this guy has been faithful at serving why was he over looked? I came to the conclusion that God is in control and know what he doing but also he can still be faithful in the church without having the title. He is a guy who will lead without being a manger, he is the type to help change lives without truly being in charge. As humans we will always feel overlooked but God sees us and we can still make a difference in our realm of influence. I think one of the biggest things about leading people as a manager and leading people as an individual is influence. People listen to managers because they are in charge, people listen to leaders who are their peers because of the influence they have on their lives.
